Take care.

TRADITIONAL AFTERCARE

  1. Keep bandage on for at least 2 hours; no longer than overnight. Make sure that your sheets are clean and that your pets are off of the bed.

  2. When washing your tattoo for the first time, take a hot shower and cleanse the tattoo gently with your hand and Dial unscented soap. Do NOT aggressively scrub or irritate it during this first cleanse, don’t use a loofah or washcloth, gently cleansing will clean off any residue of ink/bandage/blood/plasma. After getting out of the shower, apply a hot compress with a clean wash cloth and hold it on top of your tattoo for at least ten seconds; this will break up the plasma in your blood and lead to less scabbing overall. Gently pat dry your tattoo after the hot compress. with another clean towel. Do not scrub your tattoo with the cloth, just pat dry.

  3. Once your tattoo is clean and dry, let it air dry until it is not hot to the touch and the swelling has gone down substantially. Then apply a small amount of unscented moisturizer like Lubriderm, which can be found at any RiteAid or Walgreens. When doing so make sure you’re not using too much.

  4. Wash your tattoo 2-3 times a day for the next two weeks with any unscented, no dye, gentle soap. Continue to moisturize how you normally would, you don’t need to over compensate a thin layer is plenty.

  5. Your tattoo will itch, peel/flake, or possibly scab. This is normal. Do NOT pick at or scratch your tattoo. Even if it scabs! As long as you go about your normal cleaning routine and apply hot compresses, it should heal fine.

SANIDERM AFTERCARE

Saniderm  is a very thin, transparent, flexible film used to protect new tattoos against fluids, friction, bacteria, and viruses. Unlike plastic films, Saniderm is breathable which allows moisture vapor and oxygen exchange while providing a moist wound environment for enhanced healing.

  1. Keep your Saniderm on for 1-5 days, the longer the better.

  2. When the edges start to peel up or your tattoo becomes unsealed, it’s time to remove the Saniderm.

  3. To remove, use warm water and Dial Gold liquid hand soap, and gently massage it off your skin. If you pull it off dry it will be unpleasant.

  4. Continue to wash your tattoo thoroughly. Once cleaned, pat dry with a new clean paper towel. Proceed to let it air dry as well for one hour minimum.

  5. Apply unscented/fragrance free lotion.

  6. For the next 8-10 days wash your tattoo 2-3 times a day.

You may shower with the Saniderm on. But no other water submersion.
